New Leadership at BWECC
Chickasha Public Schools are thrilled to announce the hiring of Gretchen Slate as the new Principal of Bill Wallace Early Childhood Center. Mrs. Slate brings seventeen years of educational experience to this role, having served as a classroom teacher for grades 1-3, a Reading Specialist, an Instructional Coordinator, and an Assistant Principal at both the middle and elementary school levels. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Oklahoma University and a Master of Educational Leadership from East Central University. She is also currently pursuing a Doctorate in Educational Leadership.
When asked about her excitement for her new role, Mrs. Slate said, “Becoming the Principal of Bill Wallace Early Childhood is an honor. I am excited to share my passion for education with the staff, students, and families. My goal is to help create memories that last a lifetime while fostering a love of learning in our youngest students.”
Mrs. Slate and her husband, Joey, who is also an educator, have been married for 21 years and have five children. Their oldest daughter, Emily, is a sophomore at the University of Tulsa, and their second daughter, Abigail, is a high school junior. They also have triplets, Caroline, Sarah, and Walker, who are in seventh grade. In their spare time, the family enjoys attending extracurricular activities, taking road trips, and exploring new restaurants.
We are delighted to welcome Gretchen Slate to Bill Wallace Early Childhood Center and our district. We look forward to the continued success of our excellent staff and wonderful students under her leadership.
